Learning Spanish & Romance in Spain
You have done it. All sorts of careful planning, money saving, and persistence have finally paid and
you are now visiting and studying in a
spanish speaking country.
You are ready to engulf yourself in the local culture and feel all the exhilaration
that living in a foreign destination can bring. Cities such as
Buenos Aires,
Marbella, and
Quito are well known for
their romantic qualities. And 'same - just 'same - you may find a little bit of time for a
little romance. After all, you are young, fit, and you date quite a bit at
home, right? So why not here?
Why not, indeed! Searching for romance in a foreign land has its own special kind
of attraction. You are far away, and you cannot wait to see the environments
and practices that are brand new to you. Finding that you are attracted to one of
the natives can step-up your excitement and enchantment about the area much more
than any art gallery or class! The opportunities to meet potential dates extend from
inside a Spanish language school
to a local coffee shop or hangout, and even just a random street corner.
There is one condition, though. You recognize just enough of the
Spanish language to Inquire where
your hotel is, (you end up lost ordinarily), and say please and thank you. Other than
that you use the standard universal language for other things, such as bringing
your hand repeatedly to your open mouth (where can I find food?), pretending to
wash your hands (I need a bathroom), or waving (hello, goodbye).
You may be capable of finding a way to Ask this person who has caught your eye out on
a dinner date, but then what? How in the heavens are you meant to
show your date how magnificent, worldly, and irresistible you are if all you can
do is ask where the restaurant wash room is and wave goodbye to your date as you
go there? All of the exhilaration of
traveling abroad in Costa
Rica or studying Spanish in
beautiful Madrid can be
overtaking, and now you have to worry about not making a fool of yourself in
front of this beautiful person?
It will be a good thought to plan for this contingency (you being the young,
fit, exquisite, dateable individual that you are, after all) before you even
boarded the airplane. Gaining a little fundamental cognition of a bit of dating
words in your designated lovers
Spanish language, whether you will
study in Spain or
live in Argentina, can
go a long way in aiding you over the tough spots while dining with the target of your
affection. Learning some Spanish
phrases and words can go a long way.
Tell your date that you are an international student, studying or volunteering
in his/her gorgeous homeland. A gorgeous Spanish woman is likely to be impressed
that you are immersed in Spanish in
Barcelona, and a hot Argentinean man is likely to be impressed by an
American woman studying in Buenos
Aires. This may score you an private tour of areas known only by the natives,
and will most likely make your date more sympathetic. After all, you love
his/her homeland enough to travel hundreds to thousands of miles away from your home to
study there!
Using universal signals, body language, and motions can go far when you are attempting
to communicate with your date, but you may want to pay special attention to how
people in his or her area gesture when they talk. Rubbing your tummy to
indicate that you are relishing the cuisine may mean to your date that you are
pregnant. If you are a man, this could really cause some discomfort. So observe,
observe, and observe some more.
